The Wing team couldn’t be more thrilled to announce we are co-leading web3 marketing platform Sesame Labs’ $4.5 million seed round.
The last few years have seen an explosion of interest and capital into web3 and dApps, but one of the biggest bottlenecks continues to be the inability of projects to acquire and retain users efficiently.
The typical distribution channels used by web2 businesses—Facebook, Instagram, Google, and email—don’t work predictably for web3, and the standard user segmentation tools used in web2 are in their infancy in web3.
Founders have used large-scale incentive programs and airdrops to drive awareness and attract users to web3 projects, but these aren’t sustainable or repeatable after initial launches. The need for infrastructure to attract and retain users so that projects can find their right audience has never been more clear.
Enter Sesame Labs. Sesame Labs is a growth engine for web3 dApps and gives web3 marketers and projects the tools they need to reach, engage, attract, and retain their users and grow their projects in a sustainable way.
We were drawn to Sesame Labs because of its strong team and unique approach. Co-founders Vinay and Aman built large parts of the web2 version of this stack at some of the leading platforms in the world, including Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp, where they worked closely together.
I was fortunate to work with Vinay at Meta, and saw first-hand the thoughtfulness and velocity with which he built and shipped products. As Vinay and Aman fell down the web3 rabbit hole and discovered how acute this problem was in web3, we couldn’t have asked for a better team to tackle it.
Sesame Labs is already helping some of the largest web3 dApps, including games such as League of Kingdoms and Ethermon, understand their users and prospective users, create segments and cohorts, and offer targeted incentives such as tokens to complete high-value on-chain or off-chain actions in the game.
